AI-Centre of Excellence – Imaging – Summer Interns 2025

We are looking for students or those in the early stages of their career to join our Summer Internship Programme 2025, a 3-month paid Internship between June and August 2025.

About the role:

Our AI-Centre of Excellence ImagingTeam has a project focussing on using Generative models to improve medical image registration. This provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop skills in state-of-the-art generative model research, including techniques like Stable Diffusion.

About you

Applications are welcomed from students of the following disciplines:

• Computer Science / Software Engineering / Informatics / Mathematics / Physics / Engineering Machine Learning / Medical Imaging

You should be at the following stage of your studies to apply:

• Third year (entering final year after the summer) or final year undergraduates
• Postgraduate students (MSc or PhD)
• Digital skills academy graduate from Data Analysis or Software Development course

Relevant skills for this project include knowledge of Python programming and Deep Learning frameworks (such as PyTorch, Keras, and TensorFlow). Experience with generative models and image registration is optional but beneficial.

Closing date for all applications for the Summer Internship Programme is Sunday 12th January 2025. Following the closing date, a shortlist will be drawn up and successful candidates contacted to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.

The placements are planned to commence on Monday 2nd June 2024, although there is flexibility in this.  The internships will adopt a hybrid working approach between our Edinburgh office and home working.  Based on recent feedback from previous interns, some time working in the office should be expected to fully benefit from the experience.
