HIT CCC – Summer Interns 2025

We are looking for students or those in the early stages of their career to join our Summer Internship Programme 2025, a 3-month paid Internship between June and August 2025.
About the role:
Our HIT CCC Team develop a set of platform services used by clinical applications, that are deployed as a set of containerised applications using custom orchestration. This project will investigate modern software architecture and deployment patterns, such as serverless, microservices, OpenShift, Nomad, Kubernetes etc., with the aim of moving away from the current custom orchestration approach to follow more suitable industry standards.
As well as providing practical software development experience, this project provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop skills in evaluating emerging architecture and tools, through investigating new approaches to deploying example platform services into the cloud and onto local servers.
About you
Applications are welcomed from students of the following disciplines:
- Computer Science / Software Engineering / Informatics / Engineering / Mathematics
You should be at the following stage of your studies to apply:
- Third year (entering final year after the summer) or final year undergraduates
- Early-stage postgraduate students (MSc or PhD)
- Digital skills academy graduate from Data Analysis or Software Development course
You should have some knowledge of writing software. Relevant skills for this project are JavaScript, C#, and ideally some exposure to containers & orchestration.

Following the closing date, a shortlist will be drawn up and successful candidates contacted to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.
The placements are planned to commence on Monday 2nd June 2024, although there is flexibility in this. The internships will adopt a hybrid working approach between our Edinburgh office and home working. Based on recent feedback from previous interns, some time working in the office should be expected to fully benefit from the experience.
